Release
When the film comes out, where it will be shown and how to get a screening for your group. And what we don’t know yet.
- When will the film be released?
- The release date has not been set yet. The campaign starts on 11 and 12 November 2026, the anniversaries of the 1918 armistice and the proclamation of the Austrian Republic. The theatrical release in Austria follows. As soon as the date is fixed, it will be posted here and sent to everyone on our list.
- Will there be screenings with talks?
- Yes, in all nine Austrian provinces, with Wolfgang Ritzberger and Elisabeth Halikiopoulos and other people from the film. Special screenings are planned in Wiener Neustadt, where the theatre scenes were filmed, and at Artstetten Castle together with Alix Poeze d’Harambure-Fraye.

- Can we have our own screening?
- Yes. Associations, museums, adult education centres, institutions and companies can book a partner screening, with a talk if you like, or ticket allocations for larger groups. Tell us what you have in mind and we will find the right cinema and date.
- And for school classes?
- School screenings take place in the mornings at partner cinemas, with a talk, teaching material and a combined offer with a workshop. Everything is on the schools page.
- What age is it for?
- The film is intended for upper secondary students and adults. It contains current footage from war and crisis zones. A rating from the Austrian Youth Media Commission (JMK) has been applied for, aiming at age 12 and up, as has a distinction from the Filmbewertungskommission of the Austrian provinces. We will add both results here.
- Will the film be on TV or streaming later?
- It is going to cinemas first, and it should stay there for a long time, accompanied by school screenings. What comes after that is still open. We will announce it here once it is decided.
- Is there an English version?
- The film is in German. For festivals and international screenings, please get in touch: office@ritzlfilm.at.
Can I watch the film now?
No, it will be shown in cinemas first.
Trailer

What is online already?
A series of short clips on TikTok, Instagram and Facebook. In each one, Elisabeth Halikiopoulos, the influencer in the film, sets a scene from 1914 against a pattern from today. 15 to 24 seconds, vertical, with subtitles.

- I’m a journalist. What is there for me?
- Key facts, synopsis, downloads and the press contact are on the press page. Press screenings are planned in Vienna, dates on request.
- What is the film about?
- In short: how societies slide into war, shown through Karl Kraus’s First World War drama and through the present. More on The Film; who speaks in it is on Cast and contributors.
- How do I stay informed?
- Drop us a line and we will get in touch about the release and screenings with talks. A few emails a year at most, unsubscribe any time.
